New Style Z500 Remote

Q2 2007, Ziova will be launching the 2.0 revision of the Z500 firmware, which will include a major redesign of the user interface, and introduce a range of new features.

As part of this revision, support for the new features is being integrated into a new model remote control. (photograph of the new design)

The new remote is supported as of firmware 1.6.
(The original remote continues to work as normal.)

* Many new buttons will directly activate features currently accessible through the Option menu:
Zoom, Pan, Step (Frames), Audio, Angle, Sort

* Some buttons are reserved for future use:
Alt, Bkmark, Repeat

* The blue icons represent new functions in the menu system for firmware 2.0. You can use the Music, Video and Picture icons to jump directly to those menus; the other icons are reserved for future use.

When firmware 2.0 is released, some of the new features it provides will only be accessible using the new remote. The old remote will continue to function, and will provide access to existing features; but to take full advantage of the updates, the new remote will be recommended.

As a result, Ziova is now offering a free upgrade to the new model remote. You'll only need to pay a small shipping fee; you can even keep your old remote.
(Shipping to addresses within Australia will cost $12. Overseas customers, contact your distributor for shipping cost -- see below.)

There is no obligation to upgrade to the new remote. Until 2.0, the two models are functionally equivalent.

However, the old remote is now out of production and no longer available. Any warranty claims for remotes will now result in replacement with the new style remote.

Please note that if you have a faulty remote, the normal warranty process applies, and you will need to send the old remote back to us before we can replace it for you.

-------------------------------------------------------------

For users in Australia, remote replacements and remote warranty claims should be made through Ziova Australia:

* Australian customers can request a remote upgrade on the My Products page of My Ziova.
* Warranty Claim Form

If you are overseas and bought your units in Australia, you can deal with Ziova Australia directly.

To request a remote replacement, you can lodge a support ticket at the Ziova Support Helpdesk.
Make sure you include your name, address and email, and tell us your place of purchase within Australia.
The shipping charge will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

To make a warranty claim, contact your place of purchase.

For users in North America (US and Canada):

Send an email to USsales@ziova.com with a subject of "New Remote".
Make sure you include your name, address and contact details.
The shipping charge will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

In case anyone was wondering, I do not work for Zensonic/Ziova. I'm simply an enthusiast of multi-media hardware (and software), who's happy to help: -
Having problems playing MP3 audio files?
Having problems playing MPEG-4 (AVI) files?
Having problems playing your DVD .ISO/.IFO back-ups
Aspect Ratio Signalling (ARS) Calculation and Alteration Tools
This is how I generate anamorphic 720x??? MPEG-4 cropped and re-sized encodes
This is how I connect the Z500, CS505 and CS615 to my network

I use ImageShack to upload my images to this forum for free | And 7-Zip to compress the samples I provide to you guys...
